Outdoor Tensioned Shading System for Angled or Horizontal Structures

Put our ZIP technology to work at any angle and create the perfect outdoor living space with the FlexShade^® Tension ZIP shading system. The ZIP feature captures the fabric's edge, resulting in more secure fabric retention and improved light control. The unit can be installed at any angle from horizontal to vertical thanks to tension cords in the side channels. Control sun glare on existing pergolas, patio rooftops, and other angled windows to make your outdoor space your favorite place to be.

Product Specs

FlexShade^® Tension ZIP is not a weather barrier; it is an outdoor solar control product only. Product should not be extended during a precipitation event or windy weather.

Available in sizes up to 16' wide and up to 20' draw (depending on width).

Includes standard brackets for attachment to structure.

Side channels install on mounting brackets.

Spreader bar may be needed depending on size of system.

Hardware finishes include clear anodized (standard), black, white, ivory, or bronze, with custom powder coat colors available.

Not available with blackout fabric.

Price includes standard RTS Radio Technology Somfy^® motor.

Product designed for outdoor applications.

ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022 Child Safety Standard

Effective June 1, 2024, in compliance with the updated ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022 child safety standard, all Draper^® window shades operated by a bead chain will be furnished with a tensioned hold-down device that is permanently attached and partially disables the product if not installed correctly. This hold-down should be installed with tension on the chain.

All bead chain operated window shades will include:

Permanently installed spring-loaded tensioned hold-down device
Approved permanent warning label attached
Approved mechanical fasteners for the tension device included. Screws provided are not suitable for all mounting surfaces. The installer is responsible for secure mounting using appropriate hardware for the site conditions. Consult with contractors and builders as needed.

If the tension device is not installed with appropriate tension on the bead chain, the shade will be rendered partially inoperable. If installed properly, the tension device will prevent the creation of a hazardous loop and will maintain tension on the bead chain.
